Alma "Les 3 Amis" 90 points in The Wine Advocate

The small 4000 bottles project of “Les 3 Amis” (friends in French), all specialists in and passionate about wine, keeps moving forward. Dominique Roujou de Boubée and Laura Montero are applying from last year a strict control on viticulture and winemaking and Franck Massard is helping them in building the brand. They form a homogeneous team.

The first 2011 vintage of the Albariño from EL Sobral, aged for 9 months in stainless steel “seduced” Neal Martin, new disciple of Robert Parker for Spain from last year who visited Galicia and just released in February his notes for the Rias Baixas region. Despite the changes in the rating system since he is in charge of the Spanish wines (lower scores, even some of the great renowned wineries have seen their ratings down, modern approach, better control), Alma received 90 points which is very correct for the whites category.

Balma outranks the Feinschmecker cava tasting

Mas Bertran Viticultors, our partner producer in the Penedès, just got the 1st place on 100 cavas in the Feinschmecker German December magazine in the cava annual tasting.

Mas Bertran winery:

An undeniable imprint from The Penedés in quality wines and cavas with Xarel.lo, Macabeu, Parellada and sumoll being the main protagonists. A constant watch over the process of elaboration. The coexistence of the latest technologies with traditional methods. Nature takes over. Intervene as little as possible to obtain the best results. The vineyard expresses itself with freedom: the vintage, always different, sets the pace. When fuse tradition, innovation and respect for nature, our products are born.

Humilitat in Cru Magazine Hong Kong with 92 points

A wine made by a sommelier tends to match sommelier’s palates. Humilitat was reviewed in Cru Magazine HK and got 92 points. The blend of Garnacha and Carignan coming from Porrera, El Molar and Poboleda and sourced from vines aged between 20 and 40 years old is a modern and fine example of the DOPQ Priorat, one of the 2 DO reaching the maximum quality level in Spain (together with Rioja DOPCa).

2 sommeliers tasted the wine and wrote a very encouraging tasting notes:

Vincent Shue described the wine as “Bright ruby red color, red fruits, raspberry, cigar box and bell paper with crisp acidity, red fruits like raspberry and strawberry, tobacco, toast, mineral with a medium finish.”

Micky Chan described it as “Clear and bright, medium ruby core with a broad pale rim, red fruits, cherries, red currant, liquorice, clove and spices. Dry, medium acidity and body, quite obvious alcohol, with soft tannins and smooth aftertaste, can . . . → Read More: Humilitat in Cru Magazine Hong Kong with 92 points

Humilitat wine of the month in Sobremesa magazine

Humilitat 2009 in Sobremesa 278x300 Humilitat wine of the month in Sobremesa magazine

Our Humilitat DOQ Priorat was voted “wine of the month” in the Spanish magazine lead by wine professionals Sobremesa in September 2012 edition.

With 92 points, Humilitat was classified as a “great wine, safe choice”, ranking the 90-95 points category. Being 1st in its category of the accessible Priorat wines, Humilitat shown all its potential and greatness. This wine, blend of Grenache and Carignan, comes from 3 villages (Porrera, El Molar and Poboleda) and grapes are selected on steep terraces sheltered from the scorching sun yet sufficiently exposed to reach optimal maturity.

It is great news given that all the tastings are blind and give each wine the same opportunity in front of critics’ judgment. Wine was described as “showing that simplicity and originality can work together in a wine”.
