“I was quite pleased with the slate minerality of the 2014 Licis, which has a spicy touch and is very harmonious. It's named after the plot where the Mencía vines grow on slate soils in Amandi. The destemmed and crushed grapes are fermented with neutral yeasts. 30% of the wine is matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for one year, while the rest of the volume is kept in stainless steel to retain the crunchiness of the grape. It's nicely balanced and with good elegance, very good freshness and a long, mineral finish. 8,000 bottles produced.”
